D. A. Dorsey Technical College has a rich and positive tradition in the Liberty City area of Miami. It was established in 1936 as the Miami Dorsey High School. In 1970, its focus was changed to meet the needs of the adults in the community by becoming a fully operational adult center. D. A. Dorsey Technical College currently offers a full complement of adult basic education courses. These include English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and basic reading, writing, and arithmetic. There is an adult high school completion program that meets all credit requirements for a high school diploma as well as General Education Diploma (GED) preparation course. Certificate programs are available for various vocational areas. Classes are offered Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Evening classes are offered Monday through Thursday between 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Financial Aid is also available for qualified students.
